With the temperatures dropping and flu season steadily approaching we would like to remind our members to stay safe and warm while exercising this Winter!

Here are our top 3 tips to help you stay warm and motivated to exercise!

  1. Dress in layers! – Dressing too warmly for exercise can be a big mistake, especially when your body starts to heat up and you naturally begin to sweat! No one wants to be wet and cold after a workout! Rather dress in multiple layers, which can be removed as you begin to sweat and put back on after exercise!

  2. Protect your Head, Hands and Feet! – Your fingers, toes and head are naturally most susceptible to the cold as your body concentrates the blood flow to the vital organs. Protect yourself against the winter chill by covering your head and ears, wear thick socks and shoes to protect your feet and possibly consider thin training gloves; especially when lifting cold, metal weights!

  3. Drink enough water! – Hydration is just as important in winter as it is in summer as dehydration is often harder to notice during cold weather! Make extra sure to replace any fluids lost during exercise by drinking at least 2-3 litres of water per day!
